Speaking

Speaking- The Conversationalist

This can be first or the last. It may be scheduled a day before, or on the day or after the (L, W, R) test. Since I attempted 3 times, I even gave speaking test after 1 week as per the dates provided.

Test Overview:

Ø Time taken is almost 15mins /candidate.

Ø It will be 1-to-1 interaction.

Ø No exact count of questions.

Ø You need to demonstrate your speaking skills with good vocabulary and grammar.

Ø The test is recorded i.e. the conversation.

Ø The test is bifurcated in 3/4 sections.

§ Section 1- Introduction questions with some general topics about your views on various aspects of your life. Example: Introduce yourself, work or study, free time

§ Section 2- Cue cards. Here examiner will provide you with a topic and few questions related to the topic. A notepad is provided to you, so that you can make a list of words you can speak about. Ideally you need to give a speech for 2mins, but you need to keep on speaking till examiner stops you.

Section 3- It would be like a rapid fire round. Examiner can bombard you with questions on the topic what you just spoke about. You could be cross-questioned for whatever you have answered previously. Need to be extremely careful for the words and content used. If you advocated a positive point in any question, don’t give a negative response as it will contradict what you previously said.
